The Black Stars of Ghana have arrived in London as preparations intensify for the highly anticipated Unity Cup showdown against longtime rivals, the Super Eagles of Nigeria, BSNSports.comng reports.

Touching down at Heathrow Airport, the Ghanaian squad begins its final phase of preparation for the Unity Cup—a tournament designed to rekindle the historic football rivalry between West African giants while celebrating the cultural ties of African and Caribbean communities in the UK.

This year’s Unity Cup, set to take place from May 27 to May 29, 2025, at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium, marks the revival of a tournament first held in 2004. More than just a football event, the Unity Cup serves as a platform for cultural expression, unity, and spirited competition.

Ghana and Nigeria are scheduled to meet in a semi-final clash on May 28. With both nations having previously lifted the Unity Cup trophy, the encounter promises to be both intense and symbolic.

Off the pitch, the long-standing culinary rivalry between the two nations will also resurface in playful banter—as fans eagerly await which side will win both the footballing and the jollof rice bragging rights.

The Black Stars' arrival was documented from the moment they stepped through Heathrow's busy terminals to their departure for the team base, underscoring the excitement building around this unique celebration of sport and culture.
