Boniface, Tella on Target as Leverkusen Thrash Baumberg 7-0 in Pre-Season Opener

Super Eagles duo Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella were among the scorers as Bayer Leverkusen kicked off preparations for the 2026/27 season with a commanding 7-0 victory over Sportfreunde Baumberg in a pre-season friendly, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Leverkusen dominated proceedings from the opening whistle, showcasing their attacking quality and squad depth against the lower-tier opposition in an encouraging start to their pre-season campaign.

New signing Afonso Moreira enjoyed a dream debut, scoring twice within the opening 27 minutes to hand the Bundesliga side an early advantage. Christian Kofane added a third before the break as Leverkusen headed into halftime firmly in control.

Boniface extended the lead shortly after the restart, scoring twice in four minutes to underline his sharpness ahead of the new campaign. Robert Andrich made it six in the 56th minute before fellow Nigerian Nathan Tella completed the rout with Leverkusen's seventh goal in the 67th minute.

The goals from Boniface and Tella will provide further encouragement for Leverkusen as the club continues preparations for the new Bundesliga season.

Boniface is expected to play a key role for Leverkusen after an injury-disrupted spell last season limited his consistency, while Tella will also be aiming to build on his performances as the new campaign approaches.
