Nigeria's Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface on Sunday returned to Belgium to say his goodbye to fans of his former club Union St Gillaloise, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Boniface left USG this summer for the German Bundesliga and he became a vital player for Bayer Leverkusen in a short time.

USG hosted Genk on Sunday and Boniface was one of the VIPs that attended the game.

"It's nice to be back here. I wanted to support Union in this top match on my day off.

"When I left here, I didn't get to say goodbye to the fans, that's why I wanted to come back.

"This is a good match to say goodbye. Otherwise, it didn't feel right for me", he said.

USG lost the game to Genk 2-0.
