Boniface Undergoes Knee Surgery

Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface will be sidelined for several months as he requires surgery on his injured knee while playing for Werder Bremen, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Following persistent pain, Boniface consulted knee specialist Christian Fink in Innsbruck, and after much speculation, the decision for surgery has been confirmed.
German tabloid Bild has reported that the operation is scheduled to take place today, Saturday. Prior assessments by doctors from both Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen, his parent club, had already indicated that surgery was necessary.
Further examinations on Friday evening have revealed cartilage damage, making it clear that Boniface will not represent Werder Bremen again.
Peter Niemeyer, Werder Bremen's head of professional football, stated, "We are pleased that we now have a solution and that Victor is undergoing surgery. This provides clarity for all parties involved. Given the rehabilitation process, we do not expect Victor to play for Werder this season."
As a result, Boniface will face a month-long recovery period, but his loan remains intact until the end of the season.
Fortunately for Werder Bremen, there are no financial implications, as the employers' liability insurance association will cover his salary.
However, this development is undoubtedly a setback, especially considering the high expectations for the injury-prone striker.
The location for his rehabilitation is yet to be determined, but it is confirmed that it will not take place in Bremen. Additionally, his locker in the changing room will be cleared out shortly.
