Boniface’s Fitness Still A Work In Progress – Bremen Boss

Werder Bremen manager Horst Steffen has admitted that Nigerian forward Victor Boniface is still working his way back to full fitness, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Boniface, who joined Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, is yet to score his first official goal for the club and has not started any game since his arrival.

He has been gradually eased in, coming off the bench in the last three matches with his minutes slowly increasing.

Coach Steffen noted that while the 23-year-old striker is making progress, he has not yet reached his optimal level and must continue to push himself to regain sharpness.

In Bremen’s recent clash with Bayern Munich, Boniface thought he had found the net in the 85th minute, only for the effort to be chalked off for offside.

The Green-Whites are hopeful that the Super Eagles striker who bagged 14 goals and nine assists for Leverkusen in the 2023/24 season will soon rediscover his form and provide the much-needed spark to their attack in the weeks ahead.
