Bosso Targets First WAFU Title For Nigeria

Flying Eagles head coach, Ladan Bosso, has said that the team are focused on Friday final against Benin Republic at the ongoing West African Football Union tournament in Niger Republic.


In a chat after the semi-final 2-1 victory against the Young Elephants of Côte d'Ivoire, the highly-rated tactician said they will neither underate nor lose focus on winning the title for the first time for Nigeria.


"We remain focused on winning the trophy for Nigeria, he told BSN Sports.


"We have dominated African and indeed the world but we have not won this title since its inception. So, Friday final means a lot to us and we cant afford to lose focus.


"This is the time to restore hopes in Nigerians who were affected by the Super Eagles inability to pick the World Cup ticket.


WAFU B U20 tournament was founded in 2018, Senegal and Ghana are the only two West African countries that have won the trophy.


The seven-time African champions, Flying Eagles and Benin Republic have qualified for the U20 African Nations Cup slated for Egypt from February 18 to March 12, 2023.
