Boxers To Stage Protest At MKO Abiola Stadium In Abuja On Tuesday

Nigerian professional boxers have announced plans to stage a peaceful protest on Tuesday, March 24, at the National Stadium, as tensions continue to rise over an ongoing dispute with the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC) and the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The protest, scheduled to commence at 9:00 AM, is expected to draw a significant number of professional fighters who have expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of boxing administration in the country.

According to sources within the boxing community, the grievances center around governance issues, welfare concerns, and alleged administrative irregularities involving both the NBBofC and the NBF. 

The boxers are demanding transparency, improved working conditions, and reforms that will better protect their careers and livelihoods.

Organizers of the protest emphasized that the demonstration will be peaceful and orderly, aimed at drawing attention to their concerns while calling on relevant authorities to intervene and resolve the lingering crisis.

Efforts to reach officials of both governing bodies for comments have so far been unsuccessful, but the situation is being closely monitored as stakeholders await developments from Tuesday’s planned action.

The protest marks another chapter in the growing unrest within Nigerian boxing, with athletes now taking a more direct approach in pushing for change.
