The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has on Wednesday approved the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt as Rivers United home ground for the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The Nigerian 2022/23 champions played all their group-stage matches in the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

CAF then stopped Stanley Eguma’s side from using their original home ground as it failed to meet the required standard to host international matches.

The Pride of Rivers having met the requirements have finally returned to play in front of their home fans as they got CAF’s approval to host the preliminary round in Port Harcourt.

The Nigeria representative in the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup will face Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso on 17th September in Burkina Faso in the qualification round for the group stage before staging the second leg in Port Harcourt.
