Nigeria U20 captain Daniel Bameyi has signed a three-year contract with ND Primorje Ajdovščina, a top-flight Slovenian club, joining from Yum-Yum FC Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The deal was finalized just an hour before the closure of the Slovenian transfer window on Sunday, 7 September 2025, and will keep the highly rated defender at the club until 2028.

Bameyi, a standout figure for Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, arrives with a growing reputation as one of the country's most promising defensive talents.

Speaking on the transfer, ND Primorje President Bojan Adžić praised the signing, expressing confidence in the impact Bameyi can have on the club's fortunes.

“We believe Bameyi’s work ethic and professionalism will bring a positive turnaround to our club. His defensive skills are exactly what we need as we push for a stronger league campaign,” Adžić said.

Head coach Milan Anđelković echoed similar sentiments, describing the 19-year-old as a critical piece of the club’s defensive rebuild.

“Daniel’s addition, along with other new signings, will help us stabilize the back line and compete at the top level this season,” Anđelković stated.

A Promising Career Path

Bameyi joins ND Primorje after a successful loan spell at Bayelsa United, where he featured during the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League season. The versatile defender, who is known for his composure and tactical intelligence, captained Nigeria to a third-place finish at the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

He also played a pivotal role in the Flying Eagles’ WAFU B U20 Championship victories in both 2022 and 2024.

Bameyi’s move to Europe marks a significant step in his career trajectory, as he looks to develop further and gain exposure in European football.
