The inaugural West African Football Union (WAFU) A&B U-20 Boys Cup of Nations, originally slated to be held in Ghana from June 15 to 30, 2025, has been officially postponed.

This decision was communicated by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in a letter addressed to participating nations and shared with BSN Sports. The statement read, in part. “We regret to announce that the WAFU A&B U-20 Boys Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Prampram from June 15-30, 2025, has been postponed. A new date for the tournament will be announced in due course.”

The GFA also urged all participating teams, officials, and stakeholders to remain patient and to monitor official communication platforms for updates regarding the revised schedule. “The tournament’s rescheduling aims to ensure the best possible conditions for a successful event,” the letter added. “We are committed to delivering an exciting competition for all participants.

Sixteen national teams from WAFU Zones A and B were set to compete in the tournament. Nigeria's U-20 head coach, Aliyu Zubairu, had previously identified the competition as an ideal preparatory platform for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in Chile. The Flying Eagles have been in a training camp in Abuja for the past week as part of their buildup.

Further updates regarding the new dates and logistical arrangements are expected to follow from the WAFU organizing committee.
