Brighton Continue Nigerian Recruitment with Valentin Joseph Capture

Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of highly rated Nigerian forward Valentin Joseph from Championship club Blackburn Rovers, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 18-year-old becomes the second Nigerian youngster to join the Seagulls this summer, following the arrival of Zadok Yohanna, who recently completed a reported €28 million move to the south coast.

While Yohanna has been integrated into Fabian Hürzeler's first-team squad, Joseph will begin his Brighton career with the club's Under-21 side as he continues his development.

Joseph arrives after an impressive campaign with Blackburn's academy, where he established himself as one of England's most promising young forwards. He scored 21 goals across all competitions during the 2024/25 season, showcasing his clinical finishing and attacking instinct.

The Nigerian striker also enjoyed an outstanding FA Youth Cup campaign, scoring nine goals to finish as the tournament's leading marksman and playing a key role in Blackburn's run to the semi-finals.

Before completing the move, Joseph mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Blackburn, enabling him to join Brighton as a free agent.

The teenager has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at the Amex Stadium until the end of the 2028/29 season.

In addition to his prolific form at youth level, Joseph gained valuable experience with Blackburn's Under-21 team, contributing seven goal involvements in 18 appearances across the Premier League 2, Premier League Cup and National League Cup.

His arrival underlines Brighton's continued commitment to identifying and developing elite young talent from across the world. The Seagulls have earned a reputation for nurturing emerging prospects, and Joseph's signing further strengthens the club's growing investment in Nigerian footballers with high long-term potential.
