Bronze Winning Super Eagles Arrive In Nigeria On Tuesday

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are scheduled to arrive in the country on Tuesday following the conclusion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which ended on Sunday, January 18, 2025, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Nigeria secured the bronze medal after defeating Egypt 4–2 on penalties in the third-place playoff, marking the nation’s ninth third-place finish in AFCON history.

According to the team’s travel arrangements, the delegation will land in Abuja. However, a significant number of players have already departed Morocco to rejoin their respective clubs in Europe. Among those who have returned to club duty are Victor Osimhen, Paul Onuachu, team captain Wilfred Ndidi, Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, and several others.

The contingent returning to Nigeria will include members of the coaching crew, backroom staff, and a number of players who did not immediately resume club commitments.

Unlike the aftermath of the 2023 AFCON, where Nigeria finished as runners-up and received a presidential reception, the Super Eagles have not been invited by the Presidency following this year’s tournament.

At AFCON 2025, Senegal emerged as champions, while tournament hosts Morocco finished second, with Nigeria rounding off the competition in third place.
