Brume, Usoro Qualify For Women's Long Jump Final in Oregon

Nigeria could claim her first medal at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States after the duo of Ese Brume and Ruth Usoro secured their spots in the women's long jump final billed for Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Brume and Usoro were at the best in Saturday's heats as they got to the final with an impressive jumps of 6.82m and 6.69m respectively.

This will be the first time Nigeria will have two long jumpers competing in the final at the World Championships.

Meanwhile Brume, the bronze medalist at the last edition of the World Championships in Doha, Qatar three years ago, stands a better chance of winning a medal if she can improve on her jump of 6.82m.

Quanesha Burks of the USA leads the women's jump qualifications with 6.86m followed by Olympic champion Malaika Mihambo of Germany (6.84m) and Ese Brume.
