The dream of Team Nigeria 4X100 men's team to clinch a medal at the ongoing World Athletics Championship in Budapest has become a mirage, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

After so much effort, the Nigerian side finally secured their qualification for the event in Hungary.

The quartet of Favour Ashe, Usheoritse Itsekiri, Alaba Akintola, and Seye Ogunlewe represented the country in the semi-final event staged on Friday and it was never meant to be as they lost out.

They produced amazing performances of personal best with a time of 38.20 seconds and finished in the 5th position.

The result means Brazil picked the final qualification slot at the expense of Team Nigeria.
