Burkina Faso Commences Infrastructure Development, Sets Clear Targets

Burkina Faso has commenced a major phase of sports infrastructure development as part of a long-term plan aimed at boosting youth participation and strengthening the country’s sporting ecosystem, BSNSports.com.ng reports 

One of the flagship projects is the construction of a new modern 15,000-capacity stadium in Bobo-Dioulasso, located at Léguéma. 

The project has already passed the 60 per cent completion mark and is expected to be completed by April next year.

According to project details, about 85 per cent of the workforce involved in the construction are Burkinabè citizens, underscoring the government’s commitment to local employment and skills development. 

The stadium will feature a roof covering all the stands, bringing it in line with modern international standards.

The project forms part of a Presidential Initiative designed to support young athletes and develop sports talents across the country.

Looking ahead, the Burkinabè government has outlined ambitious targets for the next six years. 

Plans include the construction of four modern stadiums across Bobo-Dioulasso, Ouagadougou, and Koudougou, alongside the establishment of 15 sports academies nationwide.

The initiative is expected to significantly enhance sports development, talent identification, and grassroots participation, while positioning Burkina Faso for greater competitiveness on the continental stage.
