Burna Boy and Shakira Set To Release FIFA 2026 World Cup Anthem ‘Dai Dai’

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has teamed up with Colombian pop icon Shakira for the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The track, titled Dai Dai, is scheduled for release on May 14 ahead of the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada. 

Shakira announced the collaboration through her social media platforms, sharing a teaser video filmed at the iconic Maracanã Stadium. The preview has generated excitement among football and music fans worldwide, with many anticipating another memorable FIFA anthem from the Colombian superstar. 

The collaboration marks another milestone in Burna Boy’s international career, making him one of the few Nigerian artists to feature on an official FIFA World Cup song. Fellow Afrobeats star Davido previously appeared on Hayya Hayya (Better Together), one of the official songs for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Shakira, widely regarded as one of the most recognisable voices associated with the World Cup, previously recorded the iconic 2010 tournament anthem Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) for the competition hosted in South Africa. She also contributed music linked to the 2006 and 2014 editions of the tournament. 

According to teaser clips released online, “Dai Dai” blends Afrobeats and Latin pop influences, with lyrics performed in English and Spanish. 

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to be historic, as it will feature an expanded 48-team format for the first time. The tournament is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19, 2026, across multiple cities in North America. 

Nigerian artists have increasingly become part of football’s biggest global events in recent years. Burna Boy performed at the 2023 UEFA Champions League final in Istanbul, while Tems featured at the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025. Davido also performed during activities surrounding the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

With Burna Boy now featured on the official World Cup song, Afrobeats is once again set to enjoy a prominent place on football’s global stage.
