Côte d'Ivoire To Host Inaugural French Women's League Cup Final

Côte d'Ivoire has been officially selected to host the final of the first-ever French Women's League Cup, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

This announcement marks another milestone for Abidjan, which continues to solidify its presence on the international football stage following the successful hosting of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

In recent times, the West African nation has also stepped in to host relocated 2026 World Cup qualifier matches—including Guinea vs Somalia and Benin—due to the lack of suitable stadiums in those countries.

Previously, Côte d'Ivoire had unsuccessfully bid to host the French Champions Trophy.

However, this time, the hosting is confirmed: the final of the newly established French Women’s League Cup will take place in Abidjan, the country’s economic capital.

Jean-Michel Aulas, president of the Women's Professional Football League (LFFP), made the announcement during the 2024–2025 LFFP Trophies ceremony.

 "This won't be a traditional League Cup," said Aulas, the former Olympique Lyonnais president.

 "It will carry a prestigious name, likely linked to a company involved in Côte d'Ivoire."

He emphasized the significance of the event, adding, "For professional players, travelling to play a match in a packed stadium after advancing through the qualifying rounds is a major milestone."

The new competition will feature clubs from France's Division 1 and Division 2 Féminine.

Teams involved in European competitions will join from the quarterfinal stage onward.
