CAF: 8 Teams To Start Super League
Sampson Adedeji
African soccer ruling body continues its discussions and deliberations on the proposed Super League scheduled to start in 2023, BSNSports.com.ng has gathered.
The Super League was first proposed in Europe but failed to materialise after UEFA and the country's FA refused to back the idea.
The league seem to have found its way into Africa as CAF under the leadership of Patrice Motsepe has agreed to the idea.
They've agreed that it will kick off in 2023 with 24 clubs but according to the UK-based journalist Osasuo Obayiuwana the team has been reduced to 8 for a start.
No reason was cited for the reduction in the number of participating teams.
