CAF, FECAFOOT At Loggerhead Over Eto’o Sanctions

The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has confirmed that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) informed the body that the deadline to file an appeal against the sanctions imposed on its President, Samuel Eto’o, will only commence once the full reasons for the decision are officially communicated, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

FECAFOOT welcomed the clarification from CAF but expressed concern and surprise over the handling of the matter.

According to the Federation, CAF issued the sanction less than two hours after the disciplinary hearing, yet has failed to provide the detailed reasons for the decision after a prolonged period, with no clear timeline given.

The Federation noted that the delay in communicating the full ruling has implications for the reputation and image of its President, stressing that such procedures should be handled with transparency and diligence.

FECAFOOT also recalled a previous case in which it reportedly took more than nine months to receive the full ruling and hearing schedule from CAF, describing the situation as a recurring problem within the continental football body’s disciplinary processes.

The Cameroonian FA reiterated its insistence on fair procedures, reasonable timelines, and proper and effective appeal mechanisms in all disciplinary matters.

FECAFOOT concluded by stating that it will remain vigilant in defending the integrity of its leadership and safeguarding the credibility of football governance in Africa.
