CAF, Lagardere Settles Dispute On TV Right

After a few years of crisis, the Confederation of African Football and French company Lagardere Sports have reached an agreement to settle their long-term dispute on African football television rights, BSNSports.com.ng has gathered.

The football ruling body under its former President Issa Hayatou signed a $1 billion television and marketing rights deal in November.

The agreement between both parties was originally meant to run from 2017 to 2028 but was cancelled by Ahmad Ahmad who took over from Hayatou.

Since then African football has been off TV until new president Patrice Motsepe took over from Ahmad.

The agreement was reached on Wednesday in which CAF has agreed to be paying $25 million in instalments.

 "Yes, the settlement was done around the 22nd and 23rd of November and the payment is to be in instalments. But the payment period is not very long and CAF have already made a lump sum payment," Lagardere official said.
