In a major step aimed at strengthening football development across continents, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) have signed a landmark cooperation agreement to deepen ties between African and European football, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The agreement was formally signed by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe and UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin, establishing a structured framework for long-term collaboration between both governing bodies.

The partnership will focus on key strategic areas including coaching education, refereeing development, youth football structures, and the advancement of women’s football.

 It is also expected to support broader efforts to professionalise leagues and strengthen football administration across Africa.

Speaking on the development, Motsepe described the agreement as a significant milestone for African football, noting that it would provide opportunities to leverage UEFA’s experience in accelerating growth across critical development areas.

The initiative is designed to enhance technical expertise, improve football infrastructure, and promote knowledge sharing between both continents, with the ultimate goal of raising standards and expanding opportunities for players, coaches, and officials.

The agreement is widely seen as a long-term commitment that could reshape development pathways and deepen football relations between Africa and Europe.
