CAF Announces Match Officials For WAFCON 2024

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially unveiled the list of match officials for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

A total of 46 officials — comprising Referees, Assistant Referees, and Video Assistant Referees (VAR) — have been selected for the prestigious continental showpiece.

This marks a record-breaking number, surpassing the 40 officials who participated in the 2022 edition.

The list includes 18 Referees, 18 Assistant Referees, and 10 VAR operators from 30 African nations.

Host country Morocco leads the representation with five officials. Notable names include Moroccan referee Bouchra Karboubi, who officiated at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire and is set to feature at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Also among the appointed VAR officials is Rwanda’s Salima Mukansanga, who refereed the WAFCON 2022 final between Morocco and South Africa.

The 2024 WAFCON finals will take place in Morocco from Saturday, July 5 to Saturday, July 26.
