The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled its new Referees Committee, marking another step in its drive to enhance officiating standards across the continent, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

In the new structure, Olivier Safari Kabene from the Democratic Republic of Congo has been appointed as Chairman, while Victor Miguel De Freitas Gomes of South Africa will serve as Vice-Chairman.

The announcement underscores CAF’s continued commitment to strengthening the quality, integrity, and professionalism of refereeing in African football.

According to CAF, the newly constituted committee will focus on referee education, talent development, and the implementation of modern officiating technologies to ensure consistency and fairness in competitions.

This move aligns with the continental body’s long-term vision to elevate African refereeing to global standards ahead of major tournaments such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the next Africa Cup of Nations.
