Burkina Faso now has a Confederation of African Football (CAF)-approved stadium following the successful renovation of the historic August 4th Stadium in Ouagadougou, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The refurbishment of the iconic facility was undertaken under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré, restoring the stadium to meet CAF standards for hosting international football matches and competitions.

August 4th Stadium, which has long served as the home ground of the Burkina Faso national teams, is one of the country’s most significant sporting landmarks.

The renovation work included upgrades to the playing surface, dressing rooms, safety infrastructure, and media facilities, ensuring compliance with CAF requirements.

With CAF approval secured, Burkina Faso can now host continental fixtures at home once again, a development expected to boost football activities and fan engagement across the country.

The return of international matches to Ouagadougou is also seen as a morale booster for players and supporters, while reinforcing the government’s commitment to sports development and infrastructure improvement in Burkina Faso.
