CAF Awards 2025: Osimhen, Salah, Mayele Headline Star Lineup in Morocco

Morocco is set to welcome the continent’s football elite on November 19, 2025, as it hosts the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards, Africa’s most prestigious celebration of sporting excellence.

According to a statement released on CAF’s official website on Friday, the awards ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. local time in Morocco (7 p.m. Nigerian time). The event will honor Africa’s best footballers, coaches, clubs, and national teams for their performances over the past year.

The Men’s Player of the Year category features a fiercely competitive lineup headlined by Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, and DR Congo’s Fiston Mayele.

Nigeria is strongly represented across multiple categories. Stanley Nwabali, who impressed at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, has been nominated for Goalkeeper of the Year, while Daniel Bameyi features among the contenders for Young Player of the Year. In the women’s categories, the Super Falcons dominate, with Rasheedat Ajibade, Esther Okoronkwo, and Chiamaka Nnadozie all shortlisted.

Goalkeeper of the Year sees Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie among the favorites, alongside Khadija Er-Rmichi (Morocco) and Andile Dlamini (South Africa).

Women’s National Team of the Year will be contested by the Super Falcons of Nigeria, Banyana Banyana of South Africa, and Morocco, among others.

In the Coach of the Year (Women) category, Nigeria’s Justine Madugu and Bankole Olowookere will compete against top managers such as Desiree Ellis (South Africa) and Jorge Vilda (Morocco).

Women’s Club of the Year nominees include Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Bayelsa Queens (Nigeria), and ASFAR (Morocco)—each representing dominant forces in continental football.
