The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has launched a new financial support initiative, CAF Impact, aimed at strengthening the financial capacity of its member associations, including the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), BSNSports.com.ng reports.
In a statement released by CAF, the new program was unveiled as a strategic move to enhance transparency, accountability, and effective fund utilization across Member Associations and Zonal Unions.
Unveiled during CAF’s Executive Committee meeting held on April 26, CAF Impact will provide each federation with a budget of up to $1.6 million (approximately €1.3 million) a 60% increase compared to the previous funding cycle. In addition, performance-based bonuses of up to $500,000 (€434,000) will be available under specific conditions.
The initiative will be governed by a set of strict regulations, including independent audits to monitor spending and ensure compliance.
CAF Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba emphasized the importance of responsible fund use, stating, “CAF and its President are committed to ensuring that every dollar invested contributes directly to the growth of African football.”
A significant focus of the program is on women’s and youth football, with at least 50% of the grants earmarked for these sectors.
“Through the CAF Impact program, we are shaping the future of African football—creating opportunities for every nation, every region, and every girl and boy on the continent,” CAF added.
