CAF CC: IMC Hails Rivers United On Quarter-Final Feat

The Chairman, of Interim Management Committee (IMC) Gbenga Elegbeleye on Wednesday in Abuja gave Rivers United a thumbs up following their excellent performance as Nigeria's representative in the CAF Confederation Cup, and for being among the last eight teams in the competition, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

The former Director General of the National Sports Commission during the appraisal of the Nigeria Premier League stated that the four slots allocated to Nigeria in the CAF Club competitions would have been reduced to two had Rivers United failed to qualify for the quarter-final.

He said, "Again, we need to appreciate Rivers United for qualifying to the quarter-final of the CAF Confederation Cup, if not Nigeria's representatives at the CAF inter-club competitions would be reduced to two from next season but Rivers United upheld Nigeria's three (3) slots.

Enyimba, popularly known as the Peoples Elephant, reached the Confederation Cup semi-finals in 2018 and the quarter-finals in 2020.
