CAF CL: Plateau United Crash Out, Drops to Confederation Cup

The hope of Plateau United reaching the group of the CAF Champions League has become an illusion, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigeria representative won the first leg 2-1 at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja last weekend and travelled to Tunisia with high hope of turning the table against Esperance.

Plateau United sat deeper throughout the first half and soaked the pressure and they were able to end the half in a scoreless affair.

The second stanza started the same way with former African champions dominating the game and their effort finally paid off in the 82nd minute Plateau United fouled the host attacker outside the 18-yard box.

The Moroccan referee pointed to the spot and Tunisia forward duly dispatched the goal and handed the Nigeria alone-goal defeat.

With the defeat, Plateau United now crashed out of the Champions League but still has the opportunity to continue their African sojourn in the Confederation Cup.
