CAF CL: Plateau United Has 50-50 Chance Against AS Stade Mandji- Ilechukwu

Alfred Kadiri

Fidelis Ilechukwu says his Plateau United have planned for everything and will leave nothing to chance, to qualify for the next round of the CAF Champions League ahead of AS Stade Mandji, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Peace Boys kicked off their campaign on a right footing with a 2-2 draw against the Gabonese side at the Stade Franceville.

They twice took the lead via goals from Onyebuchi Ifeanyi and CHAN Eagles striker Mohammed Zulkifilu, both were pegged back by their opponent to settle for a draw in the four-goal thriller.

"The second leg fixture against

AS Stade Mandji is very crucial for us. We have spoken to ourselves about the need to win the game; we have no advantage from the 2-2 scoreline, as the game could go either way," Ilechukwu said from his team's camp in Abuja.

"It's a game I see as a 50-a-50 chance for both teams but Plateau United will use all it has in its arsenal to prosecute the game.

"We must qualify for the next round but it won't come easy as our opponents are a good side. They have players who have got pace and move the ball very fast.

"Their style of play; their strengths and weaknesses are now known to us, I believe, they also got enough information about us as well. We will now use the next few days to map out a game plan, to get it right come Sunday."

The second leg of the encounter is billed for Sunday, 18th September at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

The winner in two legs will face the Tunisian side, Esperance in the 2nd preliminary round for a spot in the group stage.
