Nigeria's champions Rivers United came from behind to secure a 2-1 over hard-fighting Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The game played at the Adokiye Amasiamaka Stadium in Port-Harcourt witnessed fireworks from both teams and the first 30 minutes ended in a scoreless affair.

It was the away side that broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute through Bouly Sambouly but the host quickly responded as Michael Ohahume equalised two minutes later.

The 'Pride of Rivers' dominated the proceeding in the second half and they scored the second goal in the 55th minute through Paul Acquah.

Morice Chukwu and Nyima Nwagua had the opportunity to add more goals for the host but they failed to convert their chances as the game ended 2-1.

The second leg game is slated for Mohammed V Sports Complex next weekend with both legs reaching the group stage of the competition.
