Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong has showered Two Million Naira (N2m) on Plateau United for scoring two goals in their 2-1 home win over Esperance on Sunday.
Plateau United defeated Esperance of Tunisia 2-1 in the first leg Second Round of the CAF Champions League at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja on Sunday evening.
The Governor promised one Million Naira for each goal while cheering the players to victory in the dressing room
"If you can win this match, I promise N1m for each goal, Lalong said.
Along with the Governor are Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare and NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau.
The former champions League winners in the 27 minute shocked the hosts when Badri put the ball behind the net with a calm finish after Benayad found the winger who dribbled Chris Nwaeze before slotting home.
Plateau United lead into the break as goals from Ifeanyi Emmanuel and Mustapha Ibrahim gave the Tin City boys the lead after Badri had scored the opener.
Plateau United will have a big mountain to climb in the second leg of the encounter scheduled to take place on Friday 14th October 2022 at the Stade Olympique de Rades in Tunisia.

The competition has been won by 26 clubs, 12 of which have won it more than once. Al Ahly is the most successful club in the competition's history, having won the tournament a record 10 times. Wydad Casablanca are the current defending champions, having beaten Al Ahly by two goals to nil in the 2022 final.
