CAF Champions League: Rivers United Devastated After Late Defeat To RS Berkane- Finidi
Sampson Adedeji
Rivers United head coach Finidi George has admitted that his team is deeply devastated following their dramatic loss to Moroccan giants RS Berkane in the CAF Champions League, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Nigerian side appeared to be in control during the second-leg clash in Uyo, holding a lead as the game entered its final minutes.
However, a late collapse saw RS Berkane overturn the result, leaving the Pride of Rivers stunned and eliminated from the competition.
Speaking after the match, the former Super Eagles winger expressed his disappointment at the outcome.
“I have to say a draw wouldn’t have been a good result for us, but the loss is devastating. I think the overall performance of my players deserves more than what the outcome of the game looked like. It is quite unfortunate that we lost today,” Finidi said.
Rivers United will now shift focus back to domestic football as they look to rebuild momentum after the painful continental defeat
