African football was again thrown into controversy on Sunday following a major refereeing error during the CAF Confederation Cup encounter between AS Maniema and Wydad Casablanca, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Nigerien referee Ali Moussa left players, officials, and fans stunned after issuing two yellow cards to the AS Maniema goalkeeper in separate incidents but inexplicably failed to send him off, allowing the player to remain on the pitch despite clearly meeting the criteria for a red card.

The incident caused widespread confusion on the field, with Wydad players protesting the decision and match officials struggling to restore order as the game continued under intense scrutiny.

This latest controversy further deepens concerns over officiating standards in African football.
