CAF Confirms French, Belgian, German Clubs Interest For Harcourt
Ibrahim Lateef
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has informed that clubs in France, Belgium, and Germany are monitoring the progress of Ebenezer Ifeanyi Harcourt, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
Nigeria's Flying Eagles 15-year-old goalkeeping prodigy has made a remarkable impact at the TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt 2025.
Harcourt's rapid development began at the Sporting Lagos Academy, where he joined at the age of 10. Even then, coaches were impressed by his discipline, confidence, and natural shot-stopping ability.
Over the past year, he has quickly risen through the ranks, culminating in his unexpected selection for the national U-20 squad, despite being nearly five years younger than many of his teammates.
"We knew we had something special," said one of his former coaches in Nigeria during the tournament.
"He plays with the maturity of someone ten years older. His footwork, positioning, and focus are elite for his age."
Given his compelling performances, it's no surprise that European interest in Harcourt is growing rapidly.
Clubs in France, Belgium, and Germany are reportedly monitoring his progress, with several inviting him to training and assessment camps.
While Nigerian Premier League teams have shown interest as well, his management is focused on his steady development rather than rushing him into a professional deal.
One European scout remarked, "If he receives the right guidance, he could become one of Africa’s top goalkeepers within five years."
