Samuel Eto'o Fils, the president of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) following his disqualification from the upcoming Confederation of African Football (CAF) elections, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The former Indomitable Lions striker had declared his candidacy for the CAF presidency but was excluded from the list of qualified candidates released in January.

His absence from the list came as a surprise to many observers across the continent. According to reports from Cameroon, Eto'o is challenging the CAF's decision and has formally requested CAS to overturn the ruling, allowing him to participate in next month's election.

Eto'o, who has been a vocal advocate for reforms in African football, hopes the appeal will restore his candidacy and allow him to lead the continent's football governing body.
