CAF Establishes PAMOJA Oversight Committee for 2027 AFCON

The President of the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, alongside government ministers and football federation presidents from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, has approved the establishment of the PAMOJA Oversight Committee for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The decision was reached during a high-level working meeting held in Nairobi, Kenya, as preparations intensify for the first-ever TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations to be jointly hosted by three countries.

The meeting brought together senior government and football officials from the three East African nations, including Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Hon. Salim Mvurya; Tanzania’s Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Hon. Paul Makonda; and Uganda’s Minister of State for Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang.

Also in attendance were Football Kenya Federation President Mohammed Hussein, Tanzania Football Federation President Wallace Karia, Federation of Uganda Football Associations President Moses Magogo, and CAF Acting General Secretary Samson Adamu.

At the meeting, the leaders signed a Joint Resolution establishing the PAMOJA Oversight Committee with immediate effect.

According to the resolution, the committee will provide strategic direction, coordination and oversight for preparations toward the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON PAMOJA 2027 across the three host nations.

The parties also agreed on a roadmap outlining several critical milestones to be achieved before the end of August 2026.

Key areas of focus include the acceleration of stadium and infrastructure development, confirmation of host venues and operational plans, and enhanced cross-border coordination on visa processes, immigration, customs and mobility.

The roadmap further prioritises safety, security and medical preparedness, as well as the timely delivery of essential tournament infrastructure and services.

The 2027 tournament will mark a historic moment for African football as Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda prepare to jointly stage the continent’s flagship football competition for the first time.
