CAF Includes Nigeria In 44-Nation Field For 2027 U-23 AFCON Qualifiers

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named Nigeria among the 44 countries set to compete in the qualifying campaign for the 2027 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Nigeria’s U-23 team will line up alongside Algeria, Angola, Ghana, Egypt, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa, Zambia and others. 

The tournament doubles as the African pathway to the Olympic Games football competition.

Egypt will host the final tournament.

 Teams must first navigate the qualifying rounds to secure one of the places on offer. CAF is preparing to conduct the draw that will set the fixtures for the campaign.

Additional participating nations include Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo, Guinea, Kenya, Mali, Tunisia, Uganda, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

Nigeria will aim to book its place at the finals and maintain its strong tradition of contesting Olympic football honours.
