CAF Postpones AFCON 2023 To January 2024

Just has been speculated in the media, the Confederation of African Football( CAF) have decided to postpone the next African Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoire, BSNsports.com.ng has gathered.

The original date of the competition has always been in January/February but was changed by the immediate past administration of CAF under Ahmad Ahmad to June/July.

After much pressure CAF held a crucial meeting in Rabat Morocco on Sunday and its President Patrice Motsepe announced the postponement of the 2023 AFCON which was supposed to take place in the summer to Jan/Feb of 2024.

The 2019 edition which was held in Egypt took place in the summer and Algeria emerged as winner.

The last edition in Cameroon was held in Jan/Feb but the football body later confirmed that the next edition in Ivory Coast will be held in the summer.

The decision of CAF generated a lot of controversy with the stakeholders saying weather conditions in Africa in the summer is not friendly.
