CAF President Denies FIFA Influence
Sampson Adedeji
CAF President of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe, has strongly denied allegations that world football governing body FIFA under the leadership of Gianni Infantino is influencing decisions within the African football body, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Motsepe dismissed the claims while reacting to criticisms surrounding the relationship between CAF and FIFA, insisting that the African football body remains independent in its decision-making process.
“That's nonsense, absolutely nonsense! I respect everyone's opinions, even if I disagree, even if it's factually incorrect or false. People have the right to defend their opinions,” Motsepe stated.
The South African football administrator also praised Infantino, describing the FIFA president as a “loyal, reliable, principled, and honest partner.”
The comments come amid growing debates in some football circles over FIFA’s level of involvement in the administration and affairs of African football under the current CAF leadership.
