The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, has provided an update on the African Football League (AFL), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Since its introduction, the competition has only been held once, with Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa emerging champions after defeating Egypt’s Al Ahly in the final.

Motsepe emphasized the significance of the AFL in the development of football across the continent.

“There are ongoing discussions, and we are very pleased with the progress made. Several competitions are currently taking place, and we have allocated substantial funding for them. We are also reviewing the fixtures,” he stated.

He further assured that the league remains a key project for CAF.

“The African Football League is an important part of our long-term plan, and it will continue. We will make an official announcement in due course,” Motsepe added.
