CAF Reacts To Morocco Withdrawal From 2022 CHAN
African football governing body has reacted to Morocco absence at the ongoing Championship of African Nations Cup (CHAN 2022) in Algeria.
Morocco failed to show up for their opening game against Sudan after their earlier threat to pull out of the competition. The team were seen at the airport awaiting the green light from the host, Algeria to fly with Morocco Airline into the country but the Algerian government insisted on banning the airline.
CAF in a statement on Monday said it met and had made the appropriate decision while also declaring that Group C will now be played by three teams.
The statement reads:“The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAFâ€) Organising Committee for the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (“CHANâ€) Algeria 2022 met today in accordance with the Regulations in Algiers.
“The Committee decided that Group C will be composed of three teams and the first two teams will qualify for the knockout stages.
“The Organising Committee has referred the matter of Morocco no show at yesterday’s scheduled fixture against Sudan to the competent judicial body.â€
