CAF Referee of the Year Omar Artan has received an invitation from UEFA to attend the UEFA Men’s Summer Course 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The prestigious refereeing course is scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 2, 2026, bringing together leading match officials for technical and professional development.

UEFA has also expressed its interest in having Artan officiate football matches in Europe, further highlighting the growing recognition of the Somali referee’s performances on the international stage.

In a formal letter, UEFA informed both the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Somalia Football Federation (SFF) of Artan’s invitation to the programme.

The invitation represents another major milestone in Artan’s refereeing career and reflects the high regard in which he is held beyond the African continent.

Artan’s potential involvement in European fixtures would also mark a significant opportunity for an African referee to gain further exposure in UEFA competitions.
