CAF Sanctions: It’s An Injustice Against Morocco – Hervé Renard
Sampson Adedeji
French coach Hervé Renard has joined the growing chorus of criticism against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following its decision on the controversial incident from the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations between Senegal and Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Renard, who previously led Morocco at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt, strongly condemned CAF’s ruling, describing it as a clear injustice against the North African nation.
“For a country that organized the best edition in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations to be punished, then have the title stolen from it, and be attacked from all over Africa, is a blatant injustice against Morocco,” Renard said.
He further criticized the governing body’s handling of the matter, insisting that the decision exposed deep flaws in African football governance.
“What is happening today is a footballing disgrace and confirms that justice is absent. Morocco does not deserve this injustice, and it must reassess its priorities,” he added.
CAF’s decision has continued to generate widespread debate across the continent, with several stakeholders and football figures expressing concern over the implications for fairness, credibility, and the integrity of African football competitions.
