CAF Sanctions: Panic As CAF President Calls Emergency Executive Meeting

Fresh tension has emerged within the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following the controversial decision of its Disciplinary Committee over the incident that occurred during the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations between Morocco and Senegal, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

CAF has come under intense pressure in the aftermath of the ruling, with several stakeholders alleging that the decision was taken outside the provisions of the organisation’s statutes, further fuelling criticism across the African football community.

Reacting to the growing backlash, the CAF President expressed deep disappointment over what he described as the “unacceptable events” that marred the AFCON Morocco 2025 final.

While affirming his full respect for and commitment to the decisions of the CAF disciplinary bodies, he acknowledged the concerns raised by the public and football stakeholders.

In response, the CAF President has called for an emergency meeting of the Executive Committee to address the situation. The meeting, according to CAF sources, will focus on reviewing the Confederation’s regulations and disciplinary code.

The objective of the meeting is to ensure that stronger and more deterrent sanctions are put in place for violations and behaviours that damage the integrity and image of African football, as CAF seeks to restore confidence in its disciplinary processes.
