CAF Set To Reappoint Doué As Head Of Referees Committee

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is reportedly set to reappoint Ivorian official Doué Normandez as Director of its Referees Committee, following internal discussions within the continental body, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Normandez had previously been removed from the position in August, when Congolese official Veron Omba, then CAF Secretary General, oversaw a leadership reshuffle that led to the appointment of Safar Kebene. 

The change came in the aftermath of a complaint from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, which called for reforms to the refereeing structure following controversies during women’s football competitions hosted in Morocco last summer.

According to a CAF source, the Ivorian referee now enjoys strong backing from the FIFA Referees Committee, which is said to support his return as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen and develop refereeing standards across Africa.

The source further noted that Normandez was the last technical and development director appointed under FIFA supervision, prior to FIFA’s reduced oversight of CAF refereeing structures in recent years.
