CAF Snub Osimhen, List Moses Simon To Battle Mane, Salah For Best Player Award

Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the list of nominees for the 2021 award with two Nigeria players listed, BSNsports.com.ng reports.

The football body few weeks back announced the resumption of the award after almost two years of absence due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

In the list of 30 players for the men's award, it was only FC Nantes winger Moses Simon that made the list from Nigeria.

Former UD Levante winger was able to distinguish himself from the Super Eagles during the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon despite crashing out at the second round to Tunisia.

Another player from Nigeria that made the list was FC Copenhagen midfielder Akinkunmi Amoo who was considered for the young player award.

The biggest omission from the list was Napoli's forward Victor Osimhen who was impressive in the just concluded season but missed out of the AFCON due to an injury.

The award is fixed to hold on July 21 in Rabat Morocco.
