The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced plans to organise an intensive training camp for its elite referees in Cairo as preparations intensify for the decisive stages of its inter-club competitions, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The programme, scheduled to take place from March 4 to 8 in Cairo, is aimed at fine-tuning match officials ahead of the crucial knockout rounds of the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
According to CAF, the five-day training camp will focus on enhancing referees’ technical consistency, decision-making accuracy, and overall match management as the competitions approach the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final stages.
The training is expected to include theoretical sessions, practical on-field drills, video analysis of key match situations, and fitness assessments to ensure that officials meet the required standards for high-stakes fixtures.
With African club competitions entering a decisive phase, CAF’s initiative underscores its commitment to improving officiating standards and ensuring fairness and professionalism across its tournaments.
