CAF To Unveil Women’s AFCON 2026 Groups, Outstanding Award Winners In Rabat

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) will stage the Final Draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2026 on Thursday, 15 January 2025, in Rabat, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The event will also serve as the platform for CAF to announce the remaining winners in the CAF Awards 2025 Women’s categories, including the Women’s Coach of the Year and other outstanding honours.

Scheduled to begin at 14:00 local time (13:00 GMT / 15:00 Cairo), the draw will usher in a historic edition of the tournament, as WAFCON expands to a 16-team format for the first time in its history.

The qualified nations for the tournament are hosts Morocco, alongside Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia.

CAF Women’s Awards to Be Announced

Ahead of the draw, CAF will unveil the winners of three major Women’s Awards categories:

CAF Women’s Coach of the Year

CAF Women’s Interclub Player of the Year

CAF Women’s Club of the Year

These awards were initially scheduled to be presented during the CAF Awards 2025 ceremony but were postponed due to the delayed conclusion of the women’s football season, occasioned by the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League.

CAF recently re-opened voting for the three categories, reaffirming its role as an overseeing body in the process. While CAF does not vote, it coordinates and supervises the voting procedure to ensure transparency and fairness.

The draw and awards announcement are expected to set the tone for what promises to be a landmark edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
