As anticipation builds for Nigeria’s semi-final showdown against South Africa in the 2025 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu has assured fans that his team has been working hard to improve their goal-scoring efficiency.

The crucial encounter is set to take place on Thursday at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Egypt, kicking off at 6:00 PM local time (4:00 PM Nigerian time). Nigeria, alongside South Africa, Morocco, and Egypt, has already secured a spot at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile by advancing to the final four of the continental tournament.

Speaking ahead of the semi-final clash, Coach Zubairu acknowledged the team's recent struggles in front of goal but expressed confidence in the strides made during training.

"We have really worked on the low scoring tally problem. Yesterday’s session was dedicated entirely to that issue," he said. "We trained all our attackers to sharpen their decision-making in front of goal. I believe we are going to see positive results going forward."

Zubairu also provided a positive update on the squad’s fitness, confirming that all players are available for selection and ready to face the South Africans.

Nigeria, seven-time champions of the U-20 AFCON, will be aiming to reach another final as they continue their quest for continental glory.
