CAF U17 AFCON: Golden Eaglets Maul Ikon Allah 9-0 In Warm up Game

Five times world champions, Golden Eaglets on Wednesday morning defeated Ikon Allah Football Club 9-0 in a friendly match at the FIFA Goal-Project, Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 2022 WAFU B champions were on target four times in the first half and came into the second half stronger with five goals to record a massive 9-0 win in their first friendly match since resumption for the preparation CAF U17 African Nations Cup in April.

Meanwhile, the Nduka Ugbade led team await their group opponents as draw for the biennial underage 12-tournament takes place today (Wednesday). Nigeria are in Pot 1 along side, host Algeria and defending champions, Cameroon ahead of the AFCON draw.

Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Mali and Gambia are most successful countries with two titles each. This 15th edition would have been the second edition of the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations to have expanded to twelve teams instead of eight. The top four teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru as the CAF representatives.
